Artist's Description

Abe's Grill - A Southern tradition in Corinth, Mississippi and the oldest diner on US Highway 72 still operated by the original owner. It opened in 1974 and is located on a historic Civil War landmark, Corona College. Their claim to fame is the mid-south's favorite homemade biscuit.

Corona College was a female college that was founded by the Reverand L. B. Gaston in 1857. The main building of the college was taken over by the Union Army in 1862 and was used as a hospital during the Battle of Shiloh. The building was burned in 1864 when the Union Army left the area. The college never reopened.
