Artist's Description

These two railroad bridges cross the Piney River close to Devils Elbow, Missouri. Devils Elbow is a historic town that was bypassed when the alignment for Route 66 changed.

When the highway changed routes and Interstate 44 became the main corridor for travel the town was left to fend for itself. A post office still exists in the community where you can buy sundry items and get your mail.

The bridges are in a valley and can be seen from an overlook on Teardrop Road which is the original alignment for Rt 66.
