Artist's Description

A group of trees is standing tall along the historic Natchez Trace Parkway near the Tennessee Alabama state line in Tennessee.

The Natchez Trace Parkway is a historic 444 mile path from Nashville, Tennessee to Natchez, Mississippi. The Parkway is a national park that roughly follows the original commerce route between Nashville and Natchez where goods were traded at the port in Natchez on the Mississippi River.

Evidence of the original route can be seen in several places along the parkway and in some areas hiking trails join the old road. This particular section is near where the Trace cross the Tennessee Alabama state line.

This image was made early on a late fall afternoon as the sun cut through the trees. The orange leaves on the trees and ground are accentuated by the green grass.
