Artist's Description

In the poem "The Creation" by James Weldon Johnson can be found this stanza:

Then God smiled,
And the light broke,
And the darkness rolled up on one side,
And the light stood shining on the other,
And God said, “That’s good!”

I'm always amazed at what can happen when you combine sunlight with an early morning fog at the perfect time. I came upon this tranquil scene one morning in Mississippi at sunrise with the light beaming through the trees. I was immediately reminded of the poem quoted above.

If you look closely you can see the morning dew dripping from the white rail fence that surrounds the property.
